Social responsibility and contribution to the class: i feel like from grade 8 to now I have grown so much more as a person in the ability to be an outgoing and responsible person. All throughout the semester I have tried my best to make sure no one in our class feels discluded and everyone enjoys being in this class. Whenever we're doing an activity in pe (especially when it's all girls) I try to be as positive as possible. Whether someone makes a mistake or not I'll high five them and yell something like good try! To make my peers feel like it's okay to make a mistake. I think encouragement is important to making people feel like what they're doing is right. Whenever there's a need for setting up and taking down equipment I'll always be there helping out in one way or another otherwise class would never get started. I also help lead the class through activities often and it can be a little frustrating when everyone's off ignoring you doing their own thing but that's just a part of it not everyone is gonna be all ears. I still try my best to organize without sounding like a control freak and often it works out well. My attitude towards my peers is positive. For example, we were playing queens court badminton one day and after the game I high fived the shy little grade 8's to help them get out of their comfort zone and let them be aware that just because I'm older doesn't mean I'm going to pick on them. I don't feel the need to lie about my fitness. It doesn't benefit myself in anyway and no one else is gonna take the time to point out whether I did bad or good so why lie about it. Keeping my score honest is what has been helping me improve all year. For example even though I hated my beep test scores this year, I kept them as they were and worked towards improving it and I went up a whole level by the end of the semester. I volunteer at any opportunity I get, I think it's fun being out in the community helping out even though the work itself can be boring, it's still and experience. Like I went to bear creek to help out and I also helped a few times with inter murals even though I'm not getting hours and I'm not even in that class. For this section I think I deserve 25%
Healthy living: my goal at the start of the year focuses on my butt and legs. As the semester progress and I learned more about my body my goals changed. I learned that I lacked upper body strength and towards the end of the year I learned that I need to work in leg flexibility as well. I've been working towards all my goals all semester by choosing the weight room at almost every opportunity I got unless I was recovering and preferred an activity instead. I also go to the gym but i go to guildford rec centre and getting there has been an issue for me, so as soon as my membership ends in going to switch to anytime fitness which is a lot closer to my house and then I can get my warmup in ny running to the gym. My legs have toned over the semester, I haven't seen much change in my butt , but that's a slow change I still work on by doing a squat challenge. You start at 50 squats and everyday you increase a little bit until you get too 300 squats in a row which is a killer. I have seen a lot of improvement in my upper body strength and core stability aswell. I can do more push-ups and I can FINNALY do a real push-up ๐ my plank time increases by 50secs over the semester too and I am happy with my results so far. It doesn't stop here though I have a long summer of working out ahead of me. I'm
Considering joining Fitnation for the summer to get more work in. One thing I have learned this year is that diet makes up so much more of your results than working out itself. I used to have really bad eating habits. I would skip breakfast everyday because I wouldn't have an appetite and I would eat one thing at school all day and when I went home I would eat my whole kitchen. My family also eats dinner late which is so bad for you. Another issue I had was eating out of boredom. I have made so many changes to my diet. I eat something in the morning no matter what now. It could be anything from milk and some nuts to cereal or fruit and a sandwich. I take more food with me to school but not junk , I take fruit everyday I usually have almonds and I take a sandwich which I always have on whole multigrain bread(I've never liked white bread). I also changed my water drinking habits I drink roughly 10 cups of water a day. 4 of which are detox water that I drink at school almost everyday. It's cleared up my skin and I feel so much more awake and energized from just those too changes. I also have been working in mental toughness to stop eating out of boredom. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit and now I believe that because I no longer feel like
I need to eat something just because I have nothing else to do. I also don't wait for my family to eat dinner anymore which gets hard at times because there might not be something cooked to eat already but I know how to cook food anyways so I just have to stop being lazy and do that ๐ I eat my dinner at 6 and have nothing but maybe fruit any later if I'm staying up late. That's hard to
Do aswell because of my habit of eating late. One healthy snake that I love eating is kale chips. I take kale break it up into pieces. Sprinkle salt and spices and a little bit of grapseed oil on it and make it till its crispy. They're actually so tasty and they're so much better for you than actual chips and crackers. Whenever I have a craving for a food I push myself to drink a tall glass of cold water instead and most of the time the craving goes away. I also reduced the amount I eat out by a lot. I purposely leave my wallet at home so I don't even have the money on me when I feel like buying something from outside which helps stop my ha it aswell. As soon as schools over I'm going to start a one week juice fast that I do at the start of summer. I have to drink only freshly juiced fruit and veggie juice all day everyday for a week and it rids my body of all the toxins and it's a way for me to start working out for the summer. I leave this till summer because it's very difficult to do an extreme cleanse like this during school for various reasons. It's hard enough doing it I the summer aswell but it's so rejuvenating when you're done all the struggling. Over all doing blogs this year really did teach me about my body and has made me take a second look at my choices and lead to many positive changes in my body and everyday choises. I think I deserve 23% for this section.
Digital: blogs was something really hard for me to get used to doing in this class. I was so used to doing pe the "normal" way but it was kind of a good change. I didn't take blogging seriously at all until midterms when I realized that what I had just wouldn't cut it at all. I have a total of only 13 blogs up till now which isn't near as many as I should have but I still feel like it's reasonable to consider the quality of my posts over the quantity. If I could go back and change something about this semester it would be the effort I put into my blog. I'm still going to continue writing blogs until the very end of the semester and into the summer aswell. It was towards the very end that I realized that blogging what I do helps me keep track. Almost all my posts have a picture to go with it either showing what I did or where it was, what the workout was etc... The peer comments I received helped depending on who wrote them and whether it was beneficial or not. My blogs mostly consisted of activities we did on fitness days and activities I did on my own time. I didn't have many posts about regular in class activities. I needed more posts about my diet changes to prove what I have been doing aswell. It's a bit to late but I'm going to try harder to improve my blog for my own learning throught out the summer keeping track and showing what I do. I think I deserve 16% for this section.
Over all I think I deserve an 89% percent for Pe 10.
And finally id like to thank you so much for helping me learn so much about myself this year in pe Mr.Neuf. You always treated us like mature adults rather than children that needed to be babysat and it helped a lot of us show our potential. It was a lot of fun being in your class, you brought good vibes and make class so much more enjoyable! Thanks for being encouraging and giving us a chance to prove ourselves :)
You did so well this year Kiran. I think one of my favourite things was how you paired with Kabeer so many times, knowing that some of the other girls wouldn't want to. I agree with pretty much all of your final and see wonderful potential as you continue to leaner about your body, nutrition, and exercises. I had your Active Living a little lower because it was missing for so much of the blog (until the end) but I will bump you because of your awesome final. Start next year like you finished this year.. it will help with the stuff you wrote as "hard" in the third section. I really enjoyed having you in class this year. Your were definitely one of most helpful and approachable leaders. Enjoy your summer but read my comment about "cleanses" in your water post. Better to be balanced and patient. :) Thank you for your kind words.
