Mid Term Reflection

1. During PE this year, how have you shown you are prepared and willing to participate

in a variety of activities?  On what days have you participated to your best effort and
why?  What days have been a struggle for you and why?

I'm frequently willing to participate in class. PE is the class i look forward to in my day and no matter what activity we do, ill happily participate to my best ability. There are days when i cant give it my all for various reasons, i could have been up late studying for a test, an injury, being sick etc... That being said though, i don't like missing out on PE due to those reasons so i will find an alternative activity to do if i need too. I put in my best effort on fitness days. I am a lot more motivated to do a workout when there's a sense of competition and there's others around me, therefore i take advantage of the days we do fitness and try to improve by even the slightest bit each week.

2. How do you contribute to the overall success of the class?  What kind of attitude do
you bring and why?  How do you interact with other students in our class?

I feel like i bring a positive attitude to the class. i was a very quiet, shy person before but i have opened up a lot in the past couple years and i try to spread that energy to the people that may be more quiet. its honestly a lot more fun to be in a PE class where you don't feel discluded, and you aren't afraid to mess up and have fun. i think being able to laugh at your own mistakes is what gets people willing to step out of their comfort zone, and i feel like that's the attitude i bring to class. i feel like i need to talk to the people in our class a bit more. i interact well with them when we do group activities, but on an individual level i could work on it more.

3. Describe your participation during fitness days - have you been able to push yourself
physically?  What types of fitness activities do you enjoy the most?  What fitness
goals do you have for the rest of the year?

My fitness days are when i put in all my will. i participate willingly as hard as i can. there's been many times where I've had to push myself physically. when we did the guru's pyramid, i found it very challenging towards the middle of the workout and i wanted to give up so badly but i just zoned into the music and kept going as hard as i could. i slowed my pace towards the end but i got through it till the end. another time that pushed me recently was the hill run. when it comes to running for a long period of time at a steady pace i can do it with ease, but doing hill runs have always been something that i would give up on. i am a lot fitter now than i was a year or two ago, so this year when we did the hill run i completed it and gave it my absolute 100% effort. it took me almost the entire walk back to Sullivan to recover from the run, i felt like puking and barely said two words but the feeling of accomplishing it was great. for the rest of the year i really want to focus on my beep test score. its always been my weakest point, i need to get past my mental barrier telling me to stop,  because I KNOW i can do more.

4. What does "leadership" mean to you?  Who are the best leaders in our class - why?

To me leadership in this class means, taking initiative in all aspects of PE. Setting up and taking down equipment, organizing the activities without a teacher breathing down your neck, having good attitude and sharing it with others in the class. Things like being on time effect your leadership in class as well, it sets an example which is what being a leader is about. when i think about a leader in our class Jagmeet comes to mind. he has an attitude towards the people around him that makes them feel included. when we play games like four corner soccer for example, there are people that will hog the ball because they are good at it while someone else might not be, but Jag will give everyone a chance regardless. He brings good energy to our class and sets a positive example.

5. What improvements would you like to make in PE by the end of the year?  What are
you the most proud of so far?

I want to be able to try some more types of games in PE. like when we have the small gym, instead of playing dodge ball everytime we could try something new. I like the way the class is run, that's basically the only thing i'd like to see more of. So far, i'm most proud of my fitness ability. i can really notice a difference in my performance than before. i'm gonna keep slowly improving.

Started again!

I started going back to the gym again today. I didn't really have a goal
When I went in today so I just did a little bit of everything. I started off with cardio, did basic running for 15 minutes on the treadmill then switched to interval sprints: sprinting for 30seconds on max and waking for a minute. I did that for another 30 minutes. After I did some medicine ball squats with 15lbs and squat rack with 10 pound plates. Leg pressed 210 and leg curled 150. My goal for the gym is to be able to increase the weight I squat with and be able to lift more reps per set on arms. I started feeling sore already so atleast I know I worked hard.

Weight room

Today I chose to go to the weight room instead of the small gym. I focused on leg and butt workouts like medicine ball swuats and squat rack. I also did some core training by doing medicine ball sit up twists. Some cardio as well by skipping rope. I'm trying to focus more on being able to do more reps of squats per set.

Morning run

On Monday I finally motivated myself to wake up early and go for a run. I would always say that I would go but when my alarm goes off for 7 am I would turn it off and go back to sleep. This time I bolted out of bed and went! I ran from 7:30-8:30. It felt so good watching the sun rise while I was running around the neighbourhood and it was definitely worth waking up early on my day off for :)
