Final assessment

Participation: This semester I haven't skipped a single class. I absolutely love pe and it's the last class I would ever want to skip in my day. I have absences from class though but they are excused and with good reason. I also never sat out of a class due to injury, illness etc... If I wasn't able to do the activity we were doing I would atleast try or do something else that would be easier in the condition. For example when I had stomach flu and we did 25 minute run, I still ran as much as I possibly could and when the pain became unbearable I had to sit down and stop my run, BUT! I didn't quit there as soon as my body cooled down a little bit I continued running to the best of my ability. As for pe strip, I didn't forget my strip a single time this semester. I had my clothes and runners ready to go every class. Along with that, everyday I had a change of fresh clothes to change into after class. I feel like the intensity of my participation in class was excellent. I dont think there was a single day where I came to class and said I'd rather be in math class than do this activity. No matter what we did in class I would literally always be positive about it. I think I made my peers more comfortable in class by being able to laugh at my self trying activities and lightening the mood to feel like it's okay to suck. I tried to the best of my ability at all the activities we tried in fitness and in normalgym days. For example I learned that I really like yoga which isn't an activity I would've ever tried on my own time, but I learned to love it by trying it in a choice fitness day! And four corner soccer is something I'm pretty bad at but it doesn't stop me from playing it and trying my best and laughing at myself. I think I deserve a 24% in this category.

Social responsibility and contribution to the class: i feel like from grade 8 to now I have grown so much more as a person in the ability to be an outgoing and responsible person. All throughout the semester I have tried my best to make sure no one in our class feels discluded and everyone enjoys being in this class. Whenever we're doing an activity in pe (especially when it's all girls) I try to be as positive as possible. Whether someone makes a mistake or not I'll high five them and yell something like good try! To make my peers feel like it's okay to make a mistake. I think encouragement is important to making people feel like what they're doing is right. Whenever there's a need for setting up and taking down equipment I'll always be there helping out in one way or another otherwise class would never get started. I also help lead the class through activities often and it can be a little frustrating when everyone's off ignoring you doing their own thing but that's just a part of it not everyone is gonna be all ears. I still try my best to organize without sounding like a control freak and often it works out well. My attitude towards my peers is positive. For example, we were playing queens court badminton one day and after the game I high fived the shy little grade 8's to help them get out of their comfort zone and let them be aware that just because I'm older doesn't mean I'm going to pick on them. I don't feel the need to lie about my fitness. It doesn't benefit myself in anyway and no one else is gonna take the time to point out whether I did bad or good so why lie about it. Keeping my score honest is what has been helping me improve all year. For example even though I hated my beep test scores this year, I kept them as they were and worked towards improving it and I went up a whole level by the end of the semester. I volunteer at any opportunity I get, I think it's fun being out in the community helping out even though the work itself can be boring, it's still and experience. Like I went to bear creek to help out and I also helped a few times with inter murals even though I'm not getting hours and I'm not even in that class. For this section I think I deserve 25%

Healthy living: my goal at the start of the year focuses on my butt and legs. As the semester progress and I learned more about my body my goals changed. I learned that I lacked upper body strength and towards the end of the year I learned that I need to work in leg flexibility as well. I've been working towards all my goals all semester by choosing the weight room at almost every opportunity I got unless I was recovering and preferred an activity instead. I also go to the gym but i go to guildford rec centre and getting there has been an issue for me, so as soon as my membership ends in going to switch to anytime fitness which is a lot closer to my house and then I can get my warmup in ny running to the gym. My legs have toned over the semester, I haven't seen much change in my butt , but that's a slow change I still work on by doing a squat challenge. You start at 50 squats and everyday you increase a little bit until you get too 300 squats in a row which is a killer. I have seen a lot of improvement in my upper body strength and core stability aswell. I can do more push-ups and I can FINNALY do a real push-up πŸ˜‚ my plank time increases by 50secs over the semester too and I am happy with my results so far. It doesn't stop here though I have a long summer of working out ahead of me. I'm
Considering joining Fitnation for the summer to get more work in. One thing I have learned this year is that diet makes up so much more of your results than working out itself. I used to have really bad eating habits. I would skip breakfast everyday because I wouldn't have an appetite and I would eat one thing at school  all day and when I went home I would eat my whole kitchen. My family also eats dinner late which is so bad for you. Another issue I had was eating out of boredom. I have made so many changes to my diet. I eat something in the morning no matter what now. It could be anything from milk and some nuts to cereal or fruit and a sandwich. I take more food with me to school but not junk , I take fruit everyday I usually have almonds and I take a sandwich which I always have on whole multigrain bread(I've never liked white bread). I also changed my water drinking habits I drink roughly 10 cups of water a day. 4 of which are detox water that I drink at school almost everyday. It's cleared up my skin and I feel so much more awake and energized from just those too changes. I also have been working in mental toughness to stop eating out of boredom. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit and now I believe that because I no longer feel like
I need to eat something just because I have nothing else to do. I also don't wait for my family to eat dinner anymore which gets hard at times because there might not be something cooked to eat already but I know how to cook food anyways so I just have to stop being lazy and do that πŸ˜‚ I eat my dinner at 6 and have nothing but maybe fruit any later if I'm staying up late. That's hard to
Do aswell because of my habit of eating late. One healthy snake that I love eating is kale chips. I take kale break it up into pieces. Sprinkle salt and spices and a little bit of grapseed oil on it and make it till its crispy. They're actually so tasty and they're so much better for you than actual chips and crackers. Whenever I have a craving for a food I push myself to drink a tall glass of cold water instead and most of the time the craving goes away. I also reduced the amount I eat out by a lot. I purposely leave my wallet at home so I don't even have the money on me when I feel like buying something from outside which helps stop my ha it aswell. As soon as schools over I'm going to start a one week juice fast that I do at the start of summer. I have to drink only freshly juiced fruit and veggie juice all day everyday for a week and it rids my body of all the toxins and it's a way for me to start working out for the summer. I leave this till summer because it's very difficult to do an extreme cleanse like this during school for various reasons. It's hard enough doing it I the summer aswell but it's so rejuvenating when you're done all the struggling. Over all doing blogs this year really did teach me about my body and has made me take a second look at my choices and lead to many positive changes in my body and everyday choises. I think I deserve 23% for this section.

Digital: blogs was something really hard for me to get used to doing in this class. I was so used to doing pe the "normal" way but it was kind of a good change. I didn't take blogging seriously at all until midterms when I realized that what I had just wouldn't cut it at all. I have a total of only 13 blogs up till now which isn't near as many as I should have but I still feel like it's reasonable to consider the quality of my posts over the quantity. If I could go back and change something about this semester it would be the effort I put into my blog. I'm still going to continue writing blogs until the very end of the semester and into the summer aswell. It was towards the very end that I realized that blogging what I do helps me keep track. Almost all my posts have a picture to go with it either showing what I did or where it was, what the workout was etc... The peer comments I received helped depending on who wrote them and whether it was beneficial or not. My blogs mostly consisted of activities we did on fitness days and activities I did on my own time. I didn't have many posts about regular in class activities. I needed more posts about my diet changes to prove what I have been doing aswell. It's a bit to late but I'm going to try harder to improve my blog for my own learning throught out the summer keeping track and showing what I do. I think I deserve 16% for this section.

Over all I think I deserve an 89% percent for Pe 10.

And finally id like to thank you so much for helping me learn so much about myself this year in pe Mr.Neuf. You always treated us like mature adults rather than children that needed to be babysat and it helped a lot of us show our potential. It was a lot of fun being in your class, you brought good vibes and make class so much more enjoyable!  Thanks for being encouraging and giving us a chance to prove ourselves :)

Bearcreek track meet

On Wednesday me Dilraj and Puneet volunteered at bearcreek park to help out at the track meet. We got there at 9:15 and when we met the teacher we were helping from Cambridge elementary we got assigned to judge all the races. I was looking for first place Dilraj was looking for second place and Puneet looked for third place so on and so on. The races started at 10 and went on and on and on non stop until 5. At first it was pretty fun and it was so cute watching all the little happy kids running around the track, but it got really repetitive and boring towards like 12 o'clock. Our job was to stand beside the finish line and once all the racers crossed the finish line we had to stand in the lane that our place ran in. So say the 1st place kid was in lane 7, I would go stand in lane 7 and then we had to take the kids sticker and walk to the field and stick it to a chart. We repeated this over and over all day. It was still fun and luckily it was cloudy and not burning hot. Although by the end of the day my butt was so sore from sitting on the bumpy rocky ledge near the track. There was this one kid that I tried to high five after the race when I collected his sticker and he just stared at my hand and walked away πŸ˜‚ overall it was kind of boring but I enjoyed being at the track meet helping out rather than being at school learning.

Hiking

Last Saturday I went on a short little 3 mile hike at Meadowdale beach park with my cousin. I can't remember how lon it took us, I think maybe 40 minutes one way. It was tiring and I have a fear of walking down steep dirt hills from an incident from before so I was like freaking out the whole way there but the hike back is all up hill so it was fine then. After the tiring hike, the trail leads to a gorgeous beach where me and my cousin sat on the sand and relaxed by the ocean before starting our hike back. This was one of my favourite hikes and the next time I'm in Everett again im definitely going!
This was the picture I took at the end of the hike when we got to the beach.

Run

I went for an evening run to my little nephews house to see him. The run was approximately 30 minutes and he was thrilled to see meπŸ˜‚

Detox waters

I've been drinking detox water for a couple months now. I love the way it tastes and how refreshing it is and it helps cleanse my system aswell. My favourite types of water are lemon, cucumber, mixed berry, strawberry mint, and orange. I drink two bottles of detox water a day, give or take the days I run out of the house in the morning without making some. Since I started drinking it I feel a bit more awake but I haven't noticed many other effects but it's doing my body good and not harm so I enjoy drinking it :)

Beep test

My beep test score this year was much lower than I would get before. I was really disappointed when I saw my first beep test of the year. My beep test score went from 7.5-7.1 and then my last beep test score was 8. I used to run atleast a 9.something minimum so I don't know why my scores were so low this year. Although they were lower than previous years, my score for beep test and fitness testing improved from the start of the year to the last fitness test.

1st test:
7.5 beep test
Sit and reach 1
Push-ups 12
Balance board 9 touches
Jump 35cm
11.97 t test
Plank 45secs

2nd test:
7.1 beep test
Sit and reach: 1
Push-ups: 15
Balance board touches: 8
Jump: 270-225= 45cm
T test: 10.57
Plank: 50sec

3rd test:
8.0 beep test
Sit and reach 1
Push-ups 21
Balance board touches 7
Jump 45cm
T test 10.88
Plank 1min 9 secs

From comparing my results all semester I have shown improvement all over. My beep test score went higher. I'm able to do more push-ups and a longer plank , a faster t-test and a slightly improved vertical aswell. But I need to do leg excercise to improve my vertical by a lot for basketball which is a summer goal of mine now. To improve my beep test score which in disappointed in, I need to work on my mental toughness. I know that I can do much more because I'm not even physically tired when I stop running. As soon as I get a heavy feeling in my feet and my mind says to stop I give in and stop. I need to  build mental toughness and hopefully I will get much better results next year.

Gardening is excercise too?

Yesterday my mom asked me to do the one thing I hate most, gardening. But it wasn't just sitting there with taking out weeds and stuff. She made me plow the packed down dirt and loosen all the soil. It was surprisingly so tiring and straining. I got cardio in the form of gardening and I also worked my arms and lower backπŸ˜‚ I guess excercise really does come in many forms.
